News & EventsNews ReleaseBack to News & EventsWEITZ GOLF INTERNATIONAL COMPLETES MOUNTAIN FALLS GOLF COURSE - PHASE IITEMECULA, CA (November 2003) – Weitz Golf International has completed construction of the second nine holes (back nine) for the Mountain Falls Golf Course located in Pahrump Nevada. The holes were designed by Architect Jon Garner of Nicklaus Design to provide continuity with the front nine, also recently completed by Weitz Golf. The residents of Pahrump, a retirement community, located approximately 45 miles from Las Vegas are excited to see the course completed. The course represents a high-profile project for the City. A private opening is scheduled for Thanksgiving Weekend with the course opening to the public in the Spring of 2004. The desert area site presented challenges for the construction team. With consistently high wind velocities, powdery soil with a 25% shrinkage factor, and daytime temperatures above 120 °F, typical tasks such as earth moving, dust control and planting became critical to project completion. Working in coordination with the County, Weitz was able to move the more than 500,000 cy earth and control the resultant dust. With careful planning, shaping of the course was completed in time to permit planting of the rye grass before summer temperatures hit their blistering highs. Weitz Golf International is a division of The Weitz Company, LLC, a respected construction company established in 1855. With a 148-year history of financial strength and time tested project controls, Weitz Golf continues to be a leader in golf course and clubhouse construction. Weitz Golf International's offices are located in North Palm Beach, Florida and Temecula, California. For More Information, contact: Matt
