WEITZ GOLF INTERNATIONAL COMPLETES

RENOVATION OF DORAL-TESORO GOLF COURSE

TEMECULA, CA (November 2003) — Weitz Golf International has completed renovation of the Doral Tesoro Hotel & Golf Club located in Fort Worth Texas.

Although worthy of professional play, the original layout of the course proved to be too much of a challenge for the golfing public. Re-designed by Jay Morrish and Associates, Weitz Golf International moved more than 100,000 cubic yards of earth to elevate and reshape the course. This now golfer friendly course is able to function properly during rain and shine alike.

Weitz Golf reconstructed all of the greens, several of the tees and bunkers as well as 50% of the irrigation. GN-1 was planted in the fairways and Tif-dwarf stolons, imported from California in refrigerated trucks, were used to grass the greens and tees. To maintain a tight schedule, Weitz Golf self-performed a majority of the work including mass excavation, irrigation, and construction of most of the concrete cart paths.

One additional challenge of the project that Weitz Golf International was able to surmount was the identification and correction of water problems at the existing irrigation lake.   With repairs to the intake line, enlarging, re-lining and replacing the soil cover in the lake, Weitz was able to turn the lake around from losing over 100,000 gallons of water per day to fully servicing the course per design.
