News & EventsNews ReleaseBack to News & EventsWEITZ GOLF PROMOTES RODRIGUEZ TO V.P., CONSTRUCTION MANAGERNORTH PALM BEACH, FL (April 2001) — Weitz Golf International, builder of signature and quality golf courses throughout the United States, announced today the promotion of Oscar Rodriguez, to Vice President and Construction Manager. Rodriguez, who has been involved in the construction of more than 50 golf courses during the past 10 years, most recently served as acting Branch Manager in the company's Temecula, Calif., office. In his new position, Rodriguez oversees all of the company's golf course projects, ensuring adherence to company standards for quality, safety, and client service from preconstruction through completion. "Oscar employs a disciplined and all inclusive approach to golf course construction that wins the confidence of clients and designers," said Jim Koepnick, president of Weitz Golf. "He understands the many facets of golf course construction and is recognized in our company and the industry for inspiring project teams to achieve the highest level of quality and customer service." Rodriquez has worked with some of the most prestigious course designers in the business. Some of his recent projects are Hassayampa Golf Course in Prescott, Ariz., Reflection Bay at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nev., Snoqualmie Ridge in Snoqualmie, Wash., and Robinson Ranch Golf Course in Santa Clarita, Calif. A graduate of the University of San Diego, Rodriguez earned a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering. He also has completed several courses in golf course construction and turf management, an essential component of delivering a high quality course. Rodriguez joined Weitz Golf in 1999 when the company acquired Fairway Construction, a golf course builder based in Temecula, Calif. Rodriguez was in charge of operations and continued in that capacity with Weitz Golf. "We identified Oscar early on as a construction professional with leadership capabilities," Koepnick added. "He knows the business side of construction management, such as budgeting, scheduling, and risk management, while also understanding the intricacies of golf course construction,- soil management, environmental considerations, grasses, and bulkheading procedures."
